PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an intrusion monitor which suppresses a malfunction due to the influence of sunlight, in which low power consumption is attained and which can be used outdoors for a long time. SOLUTION: This monitor decides whether an intruding object is a person, a vehicle or others by using pieces of information from a thermal sensor and an artificial retina sensor. The thermal sensor detects the intruding object according to the changed portion of infrared radiant quantity in a monitoring area. Normally, only the thermal sensor operates, and when the thermal sensor detects an intruding object, the artificial retina sensor is made to operate. In addition, the monitor can be used outdoors for a long time by charging the battery by a solar battery cell.
