PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication device that can efficiently utilize a wireless channel by detecting whether communication is voice communication or data communication so as to select a coding system. SOLUTION: This wireless communication device uses a prescribed coding means to encode a voice signal or a data signal for communication, is characterized in having a transmission means that discriminates a kind of a signal received by the wireless communication device depending on a communication type identification signal given externally to the wireless communication device and allows either of coding means 25, 26 whose compression rate differs from the kind of the signal to be transmitted to encode the received signal and transmits the coded signal.
