The main object of the present invention is to perform printing setting in a detailed manner and to perform printing, even if it is a device connected by an interface conforming to IEEE 1394. Therefore, this system is provided with an MPEG processing part 16, which applies image processing to an externally inputted image signal and generates image data, a CPU 23 which generates printing control information including at least one piece of information among matter to be printed type information, matter to be printed size information, printing color information, printing quality information, printing position information and printing layout information and a data converting part 13, which includes the image data and the printing control information in a packet conforming to the IEEE 1394 standard, outputs the packet to a printer 5 and also controls the image data included in the outputted packet to be printed according to the printing control information.
