PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relation between a size of a particle of law material powder filling a metal pipe and a size of a superconductor filament included in an oxide superconducting wire, and according to the relation, provide a method for manufacturing the oxide superconducting wire which allows a critical current value of the wire to increase up to the maximum. SOLUTION: A first metal tube filled with the law material powder is compressed in the radial direction of the first metal tube, to be formed into a wire element. A plurality of the wire elements fills a second metal tube, and the second metal tube is compressed in the radial direction of the first metal tube, so that a first wire, which has a plurality of first filaments in a round shape, is formed. The first wire is compressed in an axis direction, so that a second wire, which has a plurality of second filaments in a tape shape, is formed. The second wire is heat-treated, to be formed into an oxide superconducting wire including a plurality of superconductor filaments. The maximum diameter of the particle of the law material powder is smaller than the minor axis of the first or the second filament. |
