PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video reproducer in which a reproduced digital signal can be viewed by making a switch automatically to a signal inputted from an external decoder when a reproduced digital signal cannot be decoded by an incorporated decoder. SOLUTION: The video reproducer comprises a section 15 for re-inputting an analog signal decoded by an external decoder, a decode section 12 outputting information of non-decodable to a switching control section 16 if a reproduced digital signal cannot be decoded into an analog signal, and the switching control section 16 outputting a signal inputted from the analog signal re-input section 15 to an analog signal output section 14 upon receiving the information of non-decodable from the decode section. A reproduced digital signal can be viewed by making a switch automatically to a signal inputted from the external decoder when a reproduced digital signal can not be decoded by an incorporated decoder.
