PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the calculating amount required to correct a moving image. SOLUTION: An apparatus for processing the moving image comprises an encoding unit 100 for encoding the moving image including a correcting unit 122 between an arithmetic unit 102 and a DCT unit 103, and a deciding unit 123 and a correcting data generator 124 provided between a movement compensating unit 116 and the unit 122. The image of a frame is divided into a plurality of blocks by a dividing unit 101, and a differential block between the block of the image and a predicting block is obtained by a subtractor 102. The unit 123 confirms whether a mean value of pixel values of the differential block falls within a predetermined range or not, and decides that correction of the differential block is needed if it is out of the range. In this case, the generator 124 generates correction data based on the predicted block from the unit 116, and the unit 122 corrects the differential block. Thus, only if the correction is needed, the correction data is generated and the correction is conducted. Reduction is a calculating amount required for the correction is realized. |
