PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network system for house electric appliances where a user downloads a program with respect to the house electric appliances and setting data from a network with a simple ration so as to extend the functions of the house electric appliances. SOLUTION: The network system for house electric appliances includes in-home house electric appliances connected to a network and a server of a service company connected to the network and providing services with respect to the house electric appliances. Each home of the system includes a residential gateway that is connected to the network and acts like a data storage communication unit and a portable multi-controller that is connected to the house electric appliances in each home connected to the network in a communication available way, and each user operates the multi-controller to download programs and data with respect to the house electric appliances from the server on the network via the residential gateway so as to extend the functions of the house electric appliances.
