<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type rotary electric motor that works as a starter-cum-generator, capable of obtaining large driving torque when functioning as a starter motor and of suppressing driven torque, when it functions as a generator. SOLUTION: This permanent magnet type rotary electric motor is provided with a rotor yoke of substantially a cylindrical shape that revolves around the outside circumference of a stator, having a plurality of magnet inserting holes arranged along its circumferential direction yoke that sandwiches interpole parts, and with a permanent magnet that is inserted in each magnet-inserting hole. In this rotary electric motor, each magnet inserting hole 611 has a main opening part, into which a permanent magnet 62 is inserted and slits 614 a prescribed width (W), that extend from both ends along the circumferential direction of the main opening part to the central part. A remaining thickness (H) and the slit width (W) of the rotor yoke at the end of the slit 614 are determined to satisfy the relation 0.3<=remaining thickness (H) slit width (W)<=0.7.</p> |
