The ladder is able to be converted into several levels each comprising aluminum tubular uprights (20) connected to each other by rungs. At least one of the levels (18) other than the ladder lower level (19) comprise along their outer edges uprights and a runner (22) able to receive a spindle (23) provided on the fitting (1). The spindle is shaped into a female half-articulation of the lower level, opposite upright. This fitting comprises a quarter turn stop (9) for a wedge (10) which comprises the corresponding fitting shaped into a male half-articulation (11) on the other level, i.e. an intermediate or higher level able to slide on the lower level.
