PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen absorbing alloy negative electrode with an excellent discharging characteristics at the initial stage of charging-discharging cycle, a gas absorption characteristics, and a cycle life characteristics, and to provide a manufacturing method of the same disusing a complicated manufacturing process. SOLUTION: The cell comprises a wound electrode (4) with a spirally wound hole (4a) formed by winding a negative electrode plate (1) and a positive electrode plate (2) interposing a separator (3), a negative electrode current collector plate (5) joined to an end part of the negative electrode at one end part of the wound electrode, a positive electrode current collector plate (6) joined to an end part of the positive electrode at the other end part of the wound electrode, and a cylindrical case with bottom (7) housing a negative electrode current collector plate, a wound electrode, and a positive electrode current collector plate, making the negative electrode current collecting plate touch with the bottom. An opening (10) purposed to insert a welding electrode (20) which joins the negative electrode current collecting plate to the cylindrical case, is formed at the center of the positive electrode current collecting plate, and a plurality of protruding pieces 11, enabled to bend when the welding electrode is inserted, and pushing the peripheral part of the wound hole in the direction of diameter outward, is formed at the opening. |
