PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of automatically detecting a main object at the time of photographing a picture for blur control processing. SOLUTION: This image pickup device 1 equipped with an image pickup means for acquiring plural pictures focused on plural respective objects and a blur control mode for preparing a blur control picture in which only a main object is focused is provided with a main object detecting means 50 for automatically detecting the main object. The main object detecting means 50 is constituted so that the object which is closest to the center of a picture can be detected as a main object, or that the main object can be detected by using an a*b* value, or that the main object can be detected by using both ways.
