PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize efficient and accurate charging through simple circuitry, in a power supply for repeatedly charging and discharging a capacitor. SOLUTION: A first self-arc extinguishing switching element 21 is connected between a positive pole-side input terminal 2a and a positive pole-side output terminal 2c; a first rectifying element 22 is connected between a negative pole- side input terminal 2b and the positive pole-side output terminal 2c; a second rectifying element 23 is connected between the positive pole-side input terminal 2a and a negative pole-side output terminal 2d; and a second self-arc extinguishing switching element 2 is connected between the negative pole-side input terminal 2b and the negative pole-side output terminal 2d, to form a chopper bridge 2. A direct-current power supply 1 is connected between the input terminals 2a and 2b of the chopper bridge 2, and a reactor 3, a rectifying element 5 for charging, and a capacitor 6 are series-connected between the output terminals 2c and 2d of the chopper bridge 2.
