PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed control method and a speed controller considering the motor efficiency to reduce the consumption of battery energy of an electric vehicle. SOLUTION: In speed control of an electric vehicle, a certain allowance is given to the torque command that is determined by the accelerator. Within this allowance, the torque command is selected for the highest efficiency to control the motor.
