PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting cable which is compact and has a large capacity, and can lower the alternating-current loss of the conductor, and the method for analyzing electric-current distribution in a superconducting cable. SOLUTION: A superconducting cable which comprises a core material, a conducting layer of laminated structure made by winding spirally a plurality of tape-shaped superconducting multiconductor wires around the core material, an electrically insulating layer, and a magnetic shielding layer of laminated structure made by winding a plurality of tape-shaped superconducting multiconductor wires. The following architecture 1-3 is provided. 1 The winding pitch of at least one of the conductor layer and the magnetic shielding layer is different from that of the other layer. 2 The tape-shaped superconducting multiconductor wire has a structure in which superconducting filaments are imbedded in a matrix, and the filaments are spirally twisted. 3 The core material is fabricated by twisting together insulated strands.
