PURPOSE: To enable a personal computer with built-in device to acquire an access right to the device in a network constituted of IEEE 1394. CONSTITUTION: When an HDD 12 is connected with a personal computer 1a, an IEEE 1394 connecting part 3 and a GUID terminal connecting part 11, the HDD 12 acquires a GUID via the GUID terminal connecting part 11. When the personal computer 1a requests acquisition of the access right, the HDD 12 acquires a GUID via the IEEE 1394, compares it with the GUID acquired via the GUID terminal connecting part 11 and gives the access right to the personal computer 1a since the GUIDs coincide. On the contrary, no access right is given to a personal computer 1b even when a GUID is transmitted to the HDD 12 via the IEEE 1394 since it is different from the GUID of the personal computer 1a acquired via the GUID terminal connecting part 11.
