摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting an optical pickup device, a method in which optical adjustment is possible in a short time with high accuracy and automatically, and also to provide the adjusting device. SOLUTION: A lens driving device 5 vibrates an objective lens in the direction of the arrow X1 at high speed and also in the direction of the arrow Z2 at a frequency lower than in the direction of the arrow X1. A signal processing circuit 20 calculates, on the basis of the output signal of a photodetector 6, the S curve characteristic of a focus error signal FES and the reproducing signal HF modulated at high speed in the pit of an optical disk 100. A position detecting circuit 30 outputs a first position signal P1 showing the maximum point of amplitude of the reproducing signal HF and a second position signal P2 showing the S curve characteristic of the focus error signal FES. A control circuit 40, on the basis of the first and the second position signal P1, P2, moves a hologram optical device 3 in the direction of the arrow Z1 by means of a position adjusting device 7, until a difference between the maximum point of the amplitude and the zero point of the S curve characteristic becomes zero.
