PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device capable of driving with low power consumption and to form laser light into circular beam. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser device emits laser light from the end of an optical waveguide provided on a wafer. The optical waveguide is composed of a gain generating area for performing laser oscillation by generating optical gain; a mode converting area which is continued to the gain generating area, for making the lateral mode of laser light generated in the gain generating area into basic lateral mode, and performing the conversion control of the laser light into circular beam; and a beam form control area which is continued to the mode converting area, for stably propagating the laser light controlled in the mode converting area. A laser light emitting part in the end of the beam form control area becomes a window structure capable of reducing light absorption. |
