PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk player in which operability is improved by making immediately confirmable whether the request for a time search has been received or not when the request for the time search is made. SOLUTION: When a DVD is set on a DVD player 1, a program chain information recorded on the DVD is stored in a reading memory 2a (s1 to s3). When a request for a time search is made, judgment is made for whether a reproducing starting position is located within an inhibit region or not using the information stored in the memory 2a (s5 and s6). Since there exists no need to read the information from the DVD set on a main body 1 when a time search is requested, judgment is quickly made for whether the reproducing starting position requested by the search is located in the inhibit region or not. Thus, the user immediately recognizes the fact that whether the time search request is received or not and the operability is improved.
