A protective fuse for electrical appliances comprises at least one fuse element (4) with at least one preferentially-fusible section in a body filled with an inert packing (6). The packing is distributed between a first zone (Z1) formed around the fusible section (41) and a second zone (Z2) formed around the first zone. The inert packing has some physical properties and/or different compositions between the first and second zones. An Independent claim is included for a method for the fabrication of such a protective fuse.
