PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a both-sided original reader for shortening the time required for reading both sides of an original and arranging the ejected originals in the page order. SOLUTION: In this original reader for reading both front and back surfaces of the original, the carrying means of the original reader is constituted of a carrying system (rollers 21, 22 and 23) for taking in the original from a paper feed tray 9, a scanning system (rollers 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29) for carrying the original to a read part to be read and an eject system (rollers 30, 31 and 32) for ejecting the read original and the carrying system, the scanning system and the eject system are driven by a single drive source 41. Further, between the drive source 41 and the eject system, a normal/reverse rotation switch mechanism 60 for switching the normal and reverse rotations of driving force at a prescribed timing is interposed. |
