PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera which properly prevent power off during communication with an external electronic device. SOLUTION: The camera comprises the so-called power-off function which automatically turns off the power when idling state last longer than a prescribed duration when power-off is instructed by depressing a power switch 6 or when operating conditions of the auto power-off are satisfied a system controller 27 examines whether USB cables are connected. If the USB cables are connected, power-off execution is put off ignoring the power-off instruction by depressing the power switch 6 or the satisfaction of operating conditions of the power-off function.
