PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable fire detector for house whose sensitivity can be easily changed in accordance with its installation environment and non- fire alarms can be reduced. SOLUTION: The fire detector is composed of a fire detecting means 1 consisting of a smoke detecting part 11 for detecting smoke emission level S, a fire discrimination means 2 for discriminating fire and a sensitivity switching means 3 which has three types of switching levels 'LV1', 'LV2' and 'LV3' and can switch fire criterion in the means 2 in accordance with an installation place. In this case, fire discrimination smoke densities LS1, LS2 and LS3 and fire discrimination storage periods LT1, LT2 and LT3 respectively corresponding to the three types of switching levels 'LV1', 'LV2' and 'LV3' owned by the means 3 are preliminary set.
