PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element whose output power and efficiency can be made high although its manufacturing and designing are easy. SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element has a photodiode waveguide 12, a pair of electrode layers 13, 14 connected with the waveguide 12, first transmission lines 15a, 15b connected respectively with the electrode layers 14, 13, and second transmission lines 16a, 16b connected respectively with the first transmission lines 15a, 15b. Further, the characteristic impedances of the first transmission lines 15a, 15b are made larger than the ones of the second transmission lines 16a, 16b, and the condition ofβd.Ld<β1.Ll<2π/16 is made valid between the waveguide 12 and the first transmission lines 15a, 15b, whereβd and Ld are respectively the phase constant and the line length of the waveguide 12, andβl and Ll are respectively the phase constant and the line length of the first transmission lines 15a, 15b.
