PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven which can suppress a rush current in a high voltage transformer to supply a high voltage to a magnetron. SOLUTION: When a supply of an electric power is started to the high voltage transformer, a phaseθof a voltage of an alternating current power supply when an electric conduction to the high voltage transformer was stopped at the last time is referred. In case the phaseθis written in a memory (at the time of YES decision at S22), if theθis included within 0 toπ/9 orπto 10π/9, a stage is advanced to S24, and if within the range of 10π<θ<2π, the stage is advanced to S26, and if otherwise, the stage is advanced to S27. Then, in the respective S24, S26, S27, a phase NP of the voltage of the alternating current power supply in case of supplying the electric power to the high voltage transformer is decided asπ/2 or 3π/2, A1 or A2, B1 or B2 so that the peak value of the rush current in the high voltage transformer becomes the minimum.
