PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium in which real time recording/ reproducing information is stored, a real time recording and reproducing method and device and a file operating method. SOLUTION: Real time recording/reproducing attributes are imparted on files by storing real time recording/reproducing information for assuring real time recording/reproducing in a file control information area or in respective real time files or separate files. As a result, this real time recording and reproducing device can continuously reproduces files which are recorded in real time without interruption. Moreover, the device can generate files imparted with real time recording/reproducing attributes, extend data areas and also perform recording and reproducing.
