PURPOSE: To simply restrict generation of flexure δ at both end parts by bending moment applied on a rectangular gate in a gate valve provided with the gate. CONSTITUTION: On a tip of a shaft 6 driven to actuate by a cylinder device 2, a center part on the side of a longer side in the rectangular gate 5 is installed, and after the gate 5 is moved to a position to face a valve opening 7 by move of the shaft 6 by drive of the cylinder device 2, it gets in contact with a valve seat 8 provided around the valve opening 7 in a rectangular form under pressure by inclination of the shaft 6 in this gate valve. The gate 5 is formed to have uneven thickness to be thick close to a support point where it is connected to the shaft 6, and thin on both end part sides.
