The carburetor has a housing (12) constructed from end plate (26), pump plate (22), dosing plate (18), and valve plate (14). A fuel pump (24) between pump and end plates defines a pressure impulse chamber (42) and a pump chamber (62) on either side of a pump diaphragm (60). The impulse chamber is connected to a crankcase, the pump chamber is connected to a fuel tank and has fuel intake (69) and outlet (74). A fuel dosing device (20) between pump and dosing plates defines a pressure reference chamber (114) and a dosing chamber (80) on either side of a dosing diaphragm (104). A fuel/air mixture channel extends partially through the valve plate.
