The support system for at least one votary candle (1), within a church, has a hood (3) over the candle to catch the smoke from the flame. The hood has a suction opening (4) leading to a suction channel (5) into a suction chamber (6). In the suction flow direction, a soot filter (7) is in front of a suction fan (8). Acoustic dampers (10-12) are especially at the outflow opening (14) of the suction fan (8).
