<p>The invention relates to a portable cutting device for performing cutting operations such as the pruning of trees, and the like. The portable cutting device (10) includes a pair of shears (12) mounted at an one end (28) of an elongate support (14). The pair of shears (12) are mechanically linked, by means of an elongate flexible element (40), to a water operated operating mechanism (16), the operating mechanism operatively acting on the pair of shears (12) to perform a cutting operation. The operation of the operating mechanism (16) is operatively controlled by means of a hydraulic switch (48), which controls particularly the passage of water from a pressurized mains water supply (50) or any other pressurized water supply, to the operating mechanism (16) for the operation thereof.</p> |
