The internal combustion engine includes a temperature sensor (6) which is arranged in a heat circulation (9) and behind a heating heat exchanger (15). The temperature sensor is connected to a controller (14) together with another temperature sensor (5). The temperature sensor is provided to the return path of an inner cooling circuit (4) and installed in the region of a thermostat valve (7). An Independent claim is also included for a liquid cooling operating method for internal combustion engine.
