HEAT EXCHANGER FOR HIGH-POWER SEMICONDUCTOR LASERS

The invention relates to semiconductor lasers and is particularly directed at heat exchangers to be fixed in order to cool rulers of high power laser diode arrays. The structure of the microchannels used for the flow of cooling liquid consists of two communicating arrays of microchannels with slits, whereby said arrays are made from a material with good thermal conductivity and are mounted in a common housing. One of these arrays, used for heat dissipation, is placed directly under the location where the laser is mounted. The axes of the channels of the two arrays are perpendicular. The second array consists of subsystems of non-communicating microchannels, which are used to supply and to remove cooling liquid. The flow of liquid generates turbulence. The object of the invention provides a better heat dissipation from the active areas of the laser and is moreover a high tech product.
