The drywall screw (10) includes an elongated shaft (14) about an axis, a screw head (18) at one end. The screw head has a recess having upper (22) and lower (24) portions. The upper portion is comprised of an upwardly flared thin-walled section (25) having convex and concave interior (26) and exterior (28) surfaces, respectively. The lower portion includes a Phillips head slot for receiving a Phillips head driver.
