A method for continuous fractional analysis of metallic mercury and water-soluble mercury in a gas, which comprises rendering an absorbing solution (7) to absorb the water-soluble mercury contained in the gas, separating the gas from the absorbing solution (7), reducing the water-soluble mercury in the absorbing solution (7) to covert it to a metallic mercury dispersed in a gas and introducing the gas into an analyzer (20), and, at the same time, introducing the metallic mercury which has not been absorbed by the absorbing solution (7) and remains in a form dispersed in the gas to an analyzer (22); and an apparatus for practicing the method. The method allows the water-soluble mercury and the non-water-soluble mercury to be captured and measured/analyzed in separate measuring systems as different chemical forms of mercury, and also allows monitoring and displaying the respective concentrations of metallic mercury and water-soluble mercury in a gas continuously in real time. It is preferred that an acidic gas being an inhibiting component for the measurement of mercury is absorbed by the absorbing solution (7) together with water-soluble mercury.
|
