<p>A process for producing an acid addition salt of a pyrimidine derivative which is useful as a nerve cell necrosis inhibitor and its production intermediate. More particularly speaking, a process for producing an acid addition salt of 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methyl-6-(5-piperidinopentyloxy)pyrimidine which comprises reacting 4-chloro-6-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methylpyrimidine with 5-piperidino-1-pentanol, hydrating the thus obtained 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-methyl-6-(5-piperidinopentyloxy)pyrimidine and then converting the resultant hydrate into an acid addition salt; the hydrate as described above; and a process for producing the hydrate. According to the above production process, a highly pure acid addition salt of 4-(4-flurophenyl)-2-methyl-6-(5-piperidinopentyloxy)pyrimidine can be easily and efficiently produced without resort to column chromatography. Thus, this process is suitable for the production thereof on an industrial scale.</p> |
