PURPOSE: A switching mode power supply(SMPS) of a cathode ray tube(CRT) is provided to set an operation voltage area arbitrarily and to protect elements of a main circuit stably by detecting abnormal voltage using small elements and low electric power. CONSTITUTION: A switching mode power supply(SMPS) of a cathode ray tube(CRT) includes a detecting part and a micom(114). The detecting part detects voltage induced to a second coil of a flyback transformer and generates detection voltage corresponding to AC power source input. The micom determines whether or not the detection voltage generated from the detecting part is deviated from a set operation voltage area and controls a switching control circuit(104) connected to a first coil according to the determined result.
