The weight (4) is an elongated vertical square-section rod and is connected to a generator (24) via step up gearing (20,22). Rods (8) connect the weight to a bearing box (10), and there is a spring-loaded (30), pivoted arm (6) carrying a counterweight (2). The solar energy collector (14) is connected to a hydraulic actuator (12) with a rod connected to the pivoted arm. The system also includes a support wire (16) with a loading spring (18).
