METHOD FOR SEPARATING VEGETABLE OIL FROM OLEIFEROUS SEED VIA MECHANIC COLD PRESSING

A method and apparatus for separating vegetable oil from oleiferous seeds by a mechanical cold pressing technique. The oil is filtered/clarified under cooled conditions. A filter layer is formed on the bottom of a first clarifying tank in a series of clarifying tanks from the residual crush produced in connection with the pressing. The oil is brought into the first clarifying tank by causing it to flow through the filter layer, with the result that particles present in the oil are caught in the filter layer and the oil is clarified. The apparatus comprises means (12) for cooling the clarifying tanks (6, 7, 8). A filter layer (9) is formed on the bottom of at least the first clarifying tank (6) from the residual crush produced in connection with the pressing. A pipeline (10) is provided with a pump (11) for pumping the oil. The pipeline (10) has been arranged to bring the oil into the filter layer (9) on the bottom of the first clarifying tank (6) or to the vicinity of said layer so that the oil will flow through the filter layer.
