A method of effectively and easily controlling the water base-process type lubricating and processing fluid for cold forging, containing at least one o r more types of water-soluble inorganic salt, used for cold forging without forming a chemical conversion coating on a metal surface, comprising the ste ps of measuring the electric conductivity of the lubricating and processing fluid, and feeding lubricant or water to adjust the electric conductivity to a desirable value before operation.
