OPTICAL SWITCH USING MAGNETIC FLUID

PURPOSE: An optical switch using a magnetic fluid is provided to shield or pass light on an optical path by using a characteristic of a magnetic fluid. CONSTITUTION: A reception member(20) is used for receiving a magnetic fluid. A light emitting portion(30) and a light receiving portion(40) are installed on the reception member(20). The light emitting portion(30) and the light receiving portion(40) are faced to each other. An optical path(40) formed between the light emitting portion(30) and the light receiving portion(40) is closed by projecting a magnetic fluid between the light emitting portion(30) and the light receiving portion(40). Accordingly, the optical path(40) is opened or shut by the magnetic fluid. The magnetic fluid is mounted in the reception member(20) projected toward a direction for shielding the optical path(50).
