The invention is directed to a process for coating a continuously moving web, comprising a heat treatment of the surface of the web having a wavelength of between 0.50 and 3.75 mu m radiation, prior or after setting a surface potential on the web with a discharging device, followed by applying at least one emulsion layer on the web with a coating device wherein the viscosity of the undermost emulsion layer, which comprises a solution at least gelatine, is lower than 40 mPas.
