PURPOSE: A method and method for advertisement using a virtual character in the communication network are provided to offer various characters to members so that they can do shopping using the characters. CONSTITUTION: A user registers as member of a site established on the Internet(100). The member sets up a character that stands for him at the Internet site(110). If the member logs in to the site through a display unit, such as a computer after setting up his own character, the character is displayed on the display unit(120). The site displays an advertising screen to the member using the displayed character's behavior or language(130).
