Novel device for measuring forces from living materials comprises a holder (H), an elastically deformable membrane (M) and a sensor (S) for measuring changes in the forces acting on M. M is arranged on H so that it is tensed flat, has both sides freely accessible and is elastically deformable by application of physical force. M binds to living materials that have been applied to it. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring forces from living materials by allowing the intrinsic, laterally acting forces to act on an elastically deformable membrane, optionally before, during and/or after external stimulation, and quantifying any resulting changes in distension of the membrane. |
