PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel of which cost can be reduced with narrowing a viewing angle. SOLUTION: The retardation of a liquid crystal material inserted in the liquid crystal panel 2 is set to be (260±5) nm. The retardation of a horizontal optical retardation plate 3 having an in-plane phase lagging axis nearly perpendicular to a phase lagging axis of the liquid crystal panel 2 is set to be (260±5) nm. In-plane retardation d (nx-ny) and out-of-plane retardation d (nx-ny) of a vertical optical retardation plate 21 having a phase lagging axis nearly perpendicular to the both phase lagging axes of the liquid crystal panel 2 and the horizontal optical retardation plate 3 and further having an in-plane phase lagging axis are set to be (200±30) nm and (-200±50) nm respectively.
