<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a pointing device with which authentication for obtaining computer use permission and the operation of an operator to release the use permission are simplified. SOLUTION: This pointing device 1 is provided with: depression detecting means 12 and 33 for detecting finger depression; a fingerprint reading sensor 11 which is arranged at a position linking to the means 12 and 33 and reads fingerprint information only when the means 12 and 33 detect the depression of a finger in the case the generation of a coordinates input signal is prohibited; and a coordinates input signal generating means 13 which is allowed to generate a coordinates input signal only when the fingerprint information coincides with preliminarily registered personal data and is prohibited from generating the coordinates input signal except when the fingerprint information coincides with the personal data.</p> |
