PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a heat developable photosensitive material less liable to cause a streak defect after exposure and development. SOLUTION: The method for producing the heat developable photosensitive material with an image forming layer containing at least one photosensitive silver halide, the non-photosensitive silver salt of a fatty acid, a reducing agent for silver ions and a polymer latex as a binder on one face of the base includes a step for preparing a mixture containing the polymer latex and an anionic surfactant, a step for preparing a coating liquid for the image forming layer containing the mixture, the at least one photosensitive silver halide, flakes of the non-photosensitive silver salt and the reducing agent for silver ions and a step for applying and drying the coating liquid.
