PURPOSE: A portable computer is provided to have one module for offering a computing function and the other module for offering a connection module. CONSTITUTION: The computer comprises the first module and the second module. The first module includes a liquid crystal display device(3), a keyboard(3), a mouse(5), the first connector and a signal processing circuit board(6). The first module is arranged in a housing. The signal processing circuit board(6) processes electric signals transmitted when the first module is connected to the second module or the external computer by using a signal processor(25) and a docking connector or the second connector(12). The second module includes a CPU(11) and a main memory mounted on a main circuit board(7), and the third connector connectable to the second connector(12). The second module includes also a floppy disk drive(30), a hard disk drive(9), a CD-ROM drive(10), a PCMCIA port(32) and a battery(8) which are all connected to the main circuit board(7).
