PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce electricity loss occurs on a printer, when the power is on while the printer is unable to use. SOLUTION: A printer 31 is equipped with a printer-side command generating means 34 which generates a connection confirmation command and transmits the generated connection confirmation command to a host device 21 through a communication cable 30, a printer-side command decoding means 35 which confirms connection with the host device 21 by decoding the connection confirmation command sent from the host device 21 through the communication cable 30 and a power control unit 38 which makes the power off, when the printer-side command decoding means 35 is unable to confirm the connection with the host device 21. |
