PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and rapidly carry out work for focusing with a focusing device for a microscope. SOLUTION: This focusing device includes a driving means 13 for driving a stage 1 or an objective lens 8 in order to regulate the distance between the stage 1 and the objective lens 8, a specimen position detecting means 11 for detecting the position of the specimen in its optical axis direction with respect to its focal position, a driving speed setting means 14 for setting the driving speed of the stage 1 or the objective lens 8 in accordance with the signal intensity from the specimen position detecting means 11 and a control means 12 for controlling the driving by the driving means 13 and having the driving of the stage 1 or the objective lens 8 executed in correspondence to the driving speed set by the driving speed setting means 14. |
