PURPOSE: A vocoding method in an integrated Internet protocol network is provided to reduce an overhead related to a vocoder in a mobile communication network and effectively manage a traffic by performing a trans-coding according to a vocoding algorithm of a destination terminal after checking whether the vocoding algorithms between an origination terminal and the destination terminal are identical to each other. CONSTITUTION: When an origination mobile terminal requests a voice call set-up(801), a destination subscriber checks whether the origination mobile terminal is a mobile subscriber(802). If the destination subscriber is a PSTN subscriber, not a mobile subscriber, a line gateway performs a vocoding by 64Kbps and transfers the call to the destination terminal through the PSTN(803). If the destination subscriber is a mobile subscriber, the line gateway checks a vocoding algorithm of the destination terminal(804), and if the vocoding algorithm of the origination mobile terminal and the vocoding algorithm of the destination mobile terminal, the line gateway passes it without a trans-coding, whereas if the vocoding algorithms are different to each other, an RAN(Radio Access Network) gateway performs a vocoding fitting the vocoding algorithm of the destination terminal and transfers the vocoded transmission voice data to the destination mobile terminal.
