PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a step zoom lens camera capable of easily confirming the cam groove using state at each step with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: As for the step zoom lens camera having a cam ring whose cam groove is provided with plural step areas for moving a cam moving lens group to a position capable of focusing on an object from an infinite end to a closest photographing distance while varying a focal distance and a shift area for connecting the step areas, plural step area display indexes for displaying plural step areas are formed on the trailing end face of the cam ring so as to be arranged in different positions in a circumferential direction. An observation reference index is arranged on a straight advance member which is rotated relatively with the cam ring, but not relatively moved in the optical axis direction, and then the using position of the cam groove is viewed by observing the relative position of plural step areas display index to the observation reference index.
